Wood is one of the finest materials that nature provides, and natural resource status, the man used in many sectors of our society. However, exposure to all kinds of external agents such as humidity and dryness from the sun’s rays can damage much of its beauty and quality.
Ultraviolet (UV) rays are a natural enemy of wood. They are responsible for it, if you’re outside, lose their natural appearance and acquire a grayish hue. This is because the sun degrades a component of the material called “lignin.” From there, the rain removes lignin, wood cracking and giving way to the action of moisture.
Meanwhile, water and humidity do not directly attack the wood, but favorable conditions for development of fungi and insects. This material is only just rot if constantly wet, so when we have elements of wood outdoors, they need effective protection against moisture. When the rains come we find the right time to protect it.Varnish is a transparent protective layer that provides a finish with tones that mimic the colors of different woods. Unlike waxes and oils, varnishes create a truly waterproof protective layer, protecting the wood from external agents and small erosions.
There are several types of varnishes, the oldest formulated with nitrocellulose resins, alkyd’s, acrylics and polyurethane, the latter are what we offer the best qualities in terms of strength and performance.
Impregnating oils on the other hand, unlike glazes, do not leave a protective coating on the wood surface, but penetrates deep into it, whether practiced colorless pigment therefore enhances fine wood structure . Not being film does not appear landslides and its maintenance is very simple as it is not necessary to sand.
It is specially prepared to protect the wood from the effects of the sun, preventing it from affecting the lignin (binder) of the wood and thus prevent cracking. It also makes the wood extremely waterproof and protects against mold, mildew and algae. It is widely used to protect garden furniture and outdoor decks.
